An unusual background led Alessandra Ferrara to her career as an acclaimed hairdresser, with a diploma in graphic design and experience in studying science and technology of communication as well as working as an interior planner for a number of Italian brands. Throughout her last role as an interior planner with Italian brand, Poltornesofa, Alessandra gained an in-depth understanding of the consultation process and the psychology behind the art of selling and human behaviours relating to this. This education instilled Alessandra with confidence and allowed her to flourish in the new role she would go on to undertake as a hairdresser and expert in this field. Now a renowned hair colour expert with an undeniable knowledge and passion for this industry, Alessandra was born in Rome, Italy. Having lived in York for over ten years to date, Alessandra has honed her skills as a hair colourist dramatically within this period. Alessandra began her journey within the UK hairdressing industry at Ross Charles hairdressing and has continued to establish herself as the colour expert within the salon from then on. After completing the prestigious Colour Specialist course with L’Oreal, Alessandra received her hair colour degree and her status as a hair colour expert was solidified. Following this, Alessandra finalised a number of times for the esteemed L’Oreal Colour Trophy Awards and her work continues to be recognised within the industry. Working closely with award winning hairdresser Ross Charles, Alessandra executes the majority of hair colour work on the Ross Charles photographic shoots and has done since the beginning of her career with the salon - no mean feat as the team have finalised for the British Hairdressing Awards with their photographic collections for both Men’s Hairdresser of the Year and North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year and have been published in acclaimed UK magazines including Hairdressers Journal, CreativeHEAD, Professional Hairdresser and ESTETICA, as well as a wide array of international titles. Not only does Alessandra work relentlessly behind the scenes on all photographic work, her preparation back stage at industry events is invaluable. The Ross Charles team are known for their ability to perform on stage with regular appearances at Salon International, HJ Live, Pro Hair Live and interspersed international work. Throughout this year, Alessandra found herself stepping out of the backstage and into the limelight as she worked on stage educating colouring techniques and also with the Ross Charles art team at Salon International 2019.
