Sarah Burton’s Fall/Winter Collection for Alexander McQueen seemed to add on to the influences incorporated in her Spring/Summer collection. Although last season there was a Scottish influence from the Shetland Islands, this season took from that the deep, dark, almost dream-like state of a stormy seaside coast full of primeval influence. Burton’s Ready-To-Wear for Fall 2017 showed off a feminine strength rooted in the Middle Ages and simple, soft, and unstructured for the modern woman. A look both in fashion and beauty most are calling “bewitching”.

Classically Miu Miu, Miuccia Prada put on a show to inspire the masses. With tensions high, she reinstates the notion of dressing to the nines to lift the spirits of women all over the world. It was a pastel palette of abundant faux-fur melted into bright hues and elegant patterns with ‘70s flair. Knits, furs, sequins and slips – fabrics were soft and shapes even softer. It was anything but understated and echoed glam at every angle. With mixed patterns, textures, and baker-boy hats to boot - the hair was simple, sleek and sophisticated, everything they portrayed the modern woman to be.

In Paris, Pierpaolo Piccioli debuted a whimsical collection for Valentino Fall 2017, only adding to the delicate romanticism of season’s past. Although not “sexy” by definition, with Victorian necklines and flowy silhouettes these designs spoke to a free-spirited audience. Models walked the runway to the music of the Oscar Winning movie Moonlight and Lion as they donned a free-flowing hairstyle to match the mood.
