And, then I did.
About 8 years ago I found myself working in a salon in the heart of Beverly Hills. I was privy to all the latest beauty trends – from gel nails to eyelash extensions and keratin treatments and often received many of them as a pseudo guinea pig. Stylists wanted to try out the latest and I was more than game!
This was the first (and last) time I got a keratin treatment… until Tuesday that is.
Growing up with overly curly hair, it had always been a beast to tame and with little to no proper hair products or education for us curly haired gals, straight was pretty much the only way to go. The first time I received a keratin, it was just TOO straight, I was used to lots of volume and my hair drying differently every day and this was a drastic change for me.
Over the past few years, we’ve all been privy to the leaps and bounds that have been made within the industry and the ways many of these treatments, products and services have changed. Now, it is completely possible to receive a keratin treatment AND keep your curls. So, after years of going au naturel, I just couldn’t take it anymore. Maybe it’s the change in weather (hello winter) or maybe my hair has just aged…there isn’t Botox for hair yet, is there?
It’s only been a few days but things are already off to a better start. I don’t have to worry about whether or not it’s going to be a good hair day or whether I’ll be able to get my hair to behave. Blowouts are quicker and everything seems smoother and silkier, so cheers to a new season of style, I’ll be sure to update you about how this is panning out!
